Black business suits for tall women

Business Suits for Tall Women (and How I Cheated on my Tall Specialty Shop Challenge)

A few weeks ago, I unexpectedly received an invitation to interview for a job.  I foolishly assumed that my black pant suit was in the closet and ready to go.  The jacket was there but the pants I normally wear were nowhere to be found. Yikes!  I rifled through my closet and found two more pairs of black dress pants. Phew! It seemed like I was in luck….or was I? I normally wear heels with my suits when interviewing (because nothing makes an initial impression quite like a 6’5 woman waltzing into a conference room), but I decided to wear these Tory Burch pointed […]

HOT Summer Vacation Style

As a total sweaty Betty, I always have to dress rather strategically in sweltering conditions to disguise the party that my sweat glands inevitably throw (even when I’m not exerting myself in the least).    Mr. L3 and I will be headed to Italy next month which may sound grand and glamorous, but the temps will be well into the 90s F/30s C and I’m going to MELT which is not so grand and glamorous.  Even though the trip is still a ways off, I’ve been fussing over what to pack. I’ve decided that linen and 100% cotton are my […]

Office to Holiday Party Look – Ann Taylor Teardrop Lace Skirt, Strapless Peplum Top and Turtleneck

Greetings fellow tall folk and other readers.  I know it’s not quite Thanksgiving yet but I’m already thinking about my holiday outfits and I’m still head-over-heels for lace.  Last year, I was a complete stress ball trying to find a dress to wear for some of our holiday outings in NYC.  Fortunately, I had an 11th hour stroke of luck while shopping in NYC and found a beautiful lace dress that I had been lustily eyeing online for awhile.  Side note – I wore the dress last week to work with a black blazer and felt like a million bucks! […]

Animal print tall pencil skirt

Rawrrrr – Tall Animal Print Skirt from Loft (and a Search for a Tall Suit)

I’ve admired animal print pieces from afar but have only very cautiously dipped my toe into the wild world of animal print by buying a skinny belt. I love the belt and decided it was high time for some more animals in my closet.  I’ve been on a bit of a skirt buying kick lately because I know fall is coming which means BOOTS AND TIGHTS SEASON AKA the most wonderful time of the year for me (fashion-wise at least).  Loft was having one of it’s crazy 60% off everything sales a few weeks ago, so I bought these 3 […]

Fab Finds from the Hilton Head Outlets – Part 1

Mr. L3 and I decided to go on a little summer road trip July 4th week.  I had never been to the Carolinas and am trying to make it to all 50 states before I croak so off we went.  Our first stop was Asheville, NC.  We saw a lot of interesting places and ate some fabulous food, but one of my favorite activities was hiking to a few waterfalls (in my Elle Mayers tall workout tank of course…just a note that these tanks are currently on clearance for $15 plus an extra 20% off…GO GET ONE!!!).   After a […]

Project Remix – Ann Taylor Leopard Camp Shirt 5 Ways!

As some of you may know, I regularly pretend like I’m shopping in-store in the comfort of my own home by ordering several items in various tall sizes from retailers, trying them on at home and then returning them to the store if they don’t work.  I’m pretty sure the sales folks at Banana Republic, Ann Taylor and Loft want to duck-and-cover under the counter when they see me saunter in with my online returns. I ALWAYS make a point of telling them that I have NO CHOICE but to deploy this strategy since the tall sizes are not offered […]

Project Remix Update, Neutral Accessories & Nude Hosiery!

Oops! I did it again! I neglected my blog. Life got in the way O baby. OK…I don’t think I’ll be able to write this whole post set to a Britney Spears song so I’ll quit trying.  I’ve been in the throes of a complicated move and all the annoyances thrills that come with it like hiring movers, packing, renting out our current house etc. While I have most certainly NOT let all of these obligations get in the way of my shopping, I obviously have been very neglectful in sharing my purchases with y’all. Here’s a little photo update. […]

Tory Burch Lace Dress

Holiday Outfits and Eats – NYC Trip

Mr. L3 and I just returned from a splendid trip to NYC and one of the highlights was DEFINITELY the food!  Here is a little tour of my “out-to-dinner” outfits. First Night Out – Dinner at Mas Farmhouse in Greenwich Village I kept it “dressy casual” for our first night out and wore my 382 Long Sleeve Blouse in Delilah from Tall Couture (reviewed here), my Ann Taylor (non-tall) skinny pants (more info here) and my waterproof suede Aquatalia boots. I would have preferred to wear heels instead of flat boots but navigating through hoards of people on uneven streets in […]

Shopping Custom Challenge – eShakti – Mixed Luck

Shopping Custom  Challenge – Part 3 My dress, top and skirt from eShakti arrived a bit ago and I really should have had Mr. L3 take video of me trying to get the dress and top on. No matter which way I squirmed and contorted, I absolutely could NOT get the dress on for the life of me. It would have helped if the dress had a zipper that went all the way to the top instead of just a partial side zipper. O well. It’s all part of the adventure. Moving on to the ruffly top, the fabric has no […]
