Another tall shop visit is in the books and it was an oh-so-fabulous experience. In October, the husband and I jetted off on a weekend getaway to Zurich Switzerland – home to world class chocolate, luxury watches and the tall boutique I Love Tall. I had already included I Love Tall (formerly called Copper Couture) in my tall shopping road trip through Germany and Switzerland and, awhile back, I noticed some reviews of this tall boutique’s clothing on Susi’s Munich-based tall blog. Since I knew I’d be heading to Zurich and would be wanting to partake of some tall shopping in Switzerland, I asked Susi about the store and she kindly put me in touch with the lovely owner Annemarie.
The boutique was 3 km from out hotel, and the husband and I opted to take a nice morning stroll through the main shopping district on our way to the store. As I approached the store, I felt the all too unfamiliar (because it doesn’t happen enough) thrill of being able to see, feel and try on tall clothing. As soon as I walked into the boutique and saw the tidy racks and stacks of beautiful apparel, I knew it was going to be a good day!
Annemarie and her friendly coworker gave us a warm greeting and we immediately started chatting over a cup of tea in the lounge area of the boutique.
Annemarie is the same height as me and can relate to my current role as an expat since she has lived all over the world including stints in Canada, Asia and Africa. In fact, it was while living in Canada in the mid-1990s that she happened upon tall-sized clothing for the first time and the idea of starting her own company was born. Three years ago, she decided to leave her corporate career in the international logistics and oil industry in order to start Copper Couture. In early 2016, she rebranded her business changing the name from Copper Couture to I Love Tall and also launched a fabulous new website. She has worked very hard to build relationships with suppliers so that she can offer her customers a fantastic range of high quality tall clothing. Annemarie also offers clothing from her private label and has plans to expand this line in the near future.
Since I Love Tall is one of the only tall specialty shops in Switzerland, she has loyal customers who come from far and wide to peruse the amazing selection of pants and jeans (up to 38 inseam!) as well as tops, jackets, coats, skirts, dresses etc. And there’s good news for those of you in European Union countries – I Love Tall’s online shop is HQ’d in Germany so you won’t have to pay import duties when you place an order. Also, if your tall man is joining you on your shopping spree, there is a section of tall men’s clothing for him to peruse.
Annemarie was like my very own personal shopper/stylist as I surveyed all of the styles in the shop. I would tell her what I was looking for and she would immediately find it for me. She was also a genius when it came to pants sizing and fit. When I tried on some straight fit pants that didn’t look quite right on my body type, she immediately steered me toward the skinny versions and she also convinced me to go down a size for the two pairs of pants that I bought. I was completely apprehensive about sizing down but she knows her stuff and I’m glad I trusted her expertise. I’ve worn both pairs of pants several times already and they fit perfectly.
If you’ve been following my blot, you’ve probably already read my reviews about my 38″ inseam grey jeans and cream colored fine knit sweater with buttons down the back from I Love Tall’s private label and my so-soft-I-wish-they-were-a-blanket 38″ inseam wine color pima cotton pants, but here’s a reminder of what they look like.
My two hours at I Love Tall went way too quickly and I hope I am able to return someday!
