A Look Back at 2015

With 2015 now in the books, I’m taking a look back at some of the highlights that I wrote about on my tall fashion blog this year (and what a year it’s been)!

Expat Life

One of the biggest highlights of 2015 was our relocation from the U.S. to Europe. We arrived on December 3, 2014 and our first year as expats has FLOWN by.  In the travel department, we sure covered a ton of ground including trips to Prague, Strasbourg, Amsterdam (and Keukenhof!), Champagne region, Loire Valley, Piedmont/Tuscany, Rhine River, Paris, London and Zurich (just to name a few).

Tall Blogger Meet-Ups

I was thrilled to be able to meet a few of my fellow bloggers in person.  The first meet-up was with the lovely Karen from Tall Wife. We each took the train from our respective locations and met in Düsseldorf where we enjoyed a day of chatting, lunching and shopping. I love that Karen shares my passion for travel, interesting food and, of course, tall fashion. Discovering her blog and getting to know her was certainly one of the bright spots in my year.

I was also thrilled to have brunch with Sara from Girl in the Pretty Dress and Laura from All the Tall Things while I was in London.  Sara and Laura are both such positive and supportive ladies, and it was truly a pleasure to meet them in person. Sara was then kind enough to spend the remainder of the day with me and the husband and we had a lovely time strolling around and taking in the London sights. We’ve kept in touch since and I also hope we get the chance to meet up again sometime soon!

5 Year Blogging Anniversary and Blog Re-Brand

In May, I celebrated the 5th anniversary of my blog. At that time, it was still named Long.Leggy.Lovin’ It! One of my big projects for this year was rebranding my website and moving it from Blogger to WordPress. I did the whole thing myself which gave me a great sense of accomplishment since I’m not really a techie person. I am SO thrilled with my new design and blog name (kudos to Anett from Tall Girls’ Fashion for helping me come up with it).

Tall Speciality Shop Challenge

In February 2015, I decided I was only going to buy clothing from tall specialty shops for the remainder of 2015.  This has been an interesting project and I plan to write a full overview soon.  I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the fabulous people who own some of these speciality shops and have bought some amazing pieces throughout the year. In-Person Tall Shopping

Before moving to Europe, the extent of my in-person tall shopping was a few visits to Long Tall Sally pop-ups.  In the last year, I’ve been to Long Tall Sally stores 3 times, had a blast checking out the tall boutique Pretty Tall in The Netherlands and had a splendid time at Copper Couture in Zurich Switzerland (write-up on my actual visit coming soon)! I can’t begin to tell you how heavenly it has been to try on tall clothing in person, but I’m sure you can probably imagine how much I love these experiences. A Big Thank You

And lastly, I want to say a big thank you to all of my readers and social media followers. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy interacting with all of you, reading all of your comments and hearing about your fashion highs and lows. I can’t wait to see what 2016 has in store for all of us. Happy New Year!

Thanks Andrea! I feel so fortunate that we were able to cover so much ground in 2015, that’s for sure. We are thinking about starting a family sometime in the near future, so we figured we better travel as much as possible in our first year here. Not that we wouldn’t be able to travel with a baby…it would just be different. I wish you and yours a happy and blessed 2016 as well!

Great overview! Not doing too bad yourself on the traveling part! 🙂

Hope to be seeing more of you this year, and hopefully meet Sara and Laura and other girls as well. 🙂

Loved your overview of your tall speciality shop challenge… Are you going to be buying from ‘normal’ brands again this year, or are you sticking to the tall brands?

Also, great job on the rebranding / platform move. I’m looking at doing that myself, but quite frankly, I’m dreading it a little bit… Guess I have to just get started on it.:)

    Speak soon! xx

Yes! Fingers crossed for more blogger meet-ups this year.

Re my shopping strategy for the year, I may buy from the mainstream tall brands here and there. Haven’t quite decided yet. I’ve been so pleased with my Tall Speciality Shop Challenge items that I’m finding it hard to consider buying from the mainstream brands’ tall lines because I know the fit won’t be the same since those brands consider 5’8-5’9 tall (which it is by many standards of course) whereas the tall speciality shops are catering more to women over 6’0. I feel like my closet is lacking some investment pieces so I may save my pennies and literally only buy a few items this year with the hopes that they’ll last me many many years to come.

Thanks for the compliment re the rebranding! I understand that dread. I wanted to do it for around 1.5 years before I finally went for it. I took my time with it and did a lot of research and just chipped away at the project for several months. I have tons of resources I can share if you’re interested.
