Majesty Peacoat Review

J.Crew Majesty Peacoat – My Cool Weather BFF

Raise your hand if you enjoy this time of year because you get to peruse all of your coats that have been tucked away at the back of the closet for spring and summer!  I’m not sure why tall coats thrill me so much but it’s probably because I never really had the chance to wear them when I lived in California so I still find them quite novel.

This will be my third year wearing my trusty tall J.Crew Majesty peacoat.  I was looking through some old photos the other day and realized that this coat has been my cool weather BFF on several trips (NYC, D.C., Prague, Heidelberg and much more).  The best part is, I scored a fabulous deal on the coat because I bought it on final sale.  Since final sale items are non-returnable, I was super relieved that the coat fit great, and it has become my go-to for temps that are 20s-40s.  The “stadium cloth” fabric has a bit of heft and thickness to keep me warm but the coat is not bulky.  I like that I can still wear layers under a size 6 yet the coat doesn’t make me look “fluffy”.  I also find it quite versatile. It’s dressy enough to be worn over a skirt or dress and casual enough to wear with jeans. I adore the fun buttons because they add a little personality to the coat.

The majesty peacoat is currently offered in 7 colors in the tall size and I’m drooling over the bright “deep pacific” color.  Which is your favorite color?

Here are a few photos of me wearing the coat out and about over the years and check out my original 2012 review of the coat (along with two other tall coats) here.

What a fabulous coat! I’ll be on the hunt for one soon. I have yet to find a coat that fits properly and feel true to my style…but mostly “fits properly”. If you happen to come across one, be sure to let me know!

Glad you like it! Coat hunting is fun and a bit daunting at the same time because of the whole “fits properly” bit. I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for you.

I do love coat weather, but we are heading into summer here in Australia and I’m SO HAPPY about that! This coat is timeless perfection on you! X Allison

I always get thrown off by your opposite seasons Allison but it’s also kind of fun to be following someone who is wearing summer items while I’m bundled up in fall/winter ones. 🙂 I bet you are happy about summer coming! Hooray. I’m glad you like the coat and agree that the it is rather classic and timeless. It was certainly a good find.

Oh, and I love coat weather! 🙂
I’m also quite envious of that thing you are about to eat on the Prague pic. 😉

Happy to find another person who loves coat weather. And yes…you’re right…the coat is quite versatile. I could certainly go for one of those Prague goodies right now, that’s for sure.

Thanks Nache! I really do love this peacoat. Keep an eye on J.Crew’s sales and maybe you’ll get the coat on final sale like me. And hooray for cute boots and jackets time!

Great coat! I need a new coat, especially since I’ll be traveling to Germany in December. But since I live in California and won’t be needing a “true” winter coat very much, I’m not quite sure what to get…

    Great photos from your travels!

Oooo…Germany in December. Such a perfect time to visit with all of the Christmas markets! We honeymooned in Germany in December 5 years ago and then moved here in December 2014 so I have a bit of experience with winter in Germany. 🙂 As a fellow Californian, I would be reluctant to invest a bunch in a winter coat just for one trip. I do think lots of layers under a wool peacoat could work as long as you also have a good umbrella snd hat since it can be rather rainy in the wintertime. It really depends how much you will be out in the elements. When sightseeing, I prefer to wear a down jacket but if I know I’ll be popping in and out of shops, restaurants etc., a peacoat would do just fine since places crank the heat up so much. Hope this helps!

      Glad you like my photos!

Well now that I’ve read your bio on your blog I feel quite silly about all of the comments I just made about visiting Germany in December! You obviously have way more experience with living in Germany than me. You need to give ME tips. haha!
