LEL Tall Chambray Shirt

Tall Chambray Shirt – Long Elegant Legs Review

I’m a bit late to the chambray party but now that I’ve bought my first piece I think I’m hooked!  As part of this year’s Tall Specialty Shop Challenge, I bought the tall chambray shirt from Long Elegant Legs, and I pretty much want to wear it every day.  The 100% cotton fabric is wondrously soft and lightweight which makes it perfect for late summer and early fall. The length of the shirt is just right so that it doesn’t look sloppy when worn untucked (but is also long enough to easily tuck in).  Sometimes, LEL styles seem to run a bit large and I was worried the shirt might be baggy on me, but the size small chambray shirt strikes just the right balance between an easy and tailored fit.  And who doesn’t love roll-up sleeves with tab and button detailing?

This shirt is a great travel companion! We recently took an overnight trip to the Middle Rhine River Valley and I literally had thirty minutes to pack before we had to jet out the door to catch our train.  (This may or may not have had something to do with the fact that I stayed up until 3 a.m. the night before watching UCLA football and then overslept).  I threw a bunch of clothes in my suitcase and crossed my fingers that I’d have something presentable to wear.  Even though my outfit of black jeans, tan shoes, my new tall chambray shirt and a floral scarf is pretty basic, I still felt great (and comfortable!) in it as we explored the Rheinfels Castle ruins.  Having said all that, I KNOW this shirt has much more potential for dressing up/down and mixing/matching so I will show you several others ways to style this versatile shirt in the near future.

I’ve been a customer of Long Elegant Legs for 10+ years and highly recommend this shop for tall ladies.  LEL has great basics as well as some trendier pieces.  I find the overall quality to be quite good (I still wear my red cashmere sweater 8 years after buying it) and the fit is always superb.

Your turn…

Do you love chambray?  Have you ever purchased an item from LEL?

First of all, great backdrop for shooting the pics! I love it!
Ever since starting blogging, I’m learning all these new English fashion words: I had never heard of the word chambray, so I had to look the Dutch version up. (Same happened yesterday, I learnt what patent leather was in English; everyday is a school day… ;).

Anyway, I love the shirt, it’s very versatile; shirts are always a bit dressier than normal tops, and it looks comfi and light at the same time. I liked how you’ve styled it with the scarf; one more thing I LOVE about this time of year; wearing scarfs. You can immediately change an entire look by adding a scarf. Nicely done! 🙂

That’s so interesting about all the new words you’re learning. That sounds fun! I feel like I’m learning some new ones too like jumper for sweater and trainers for sneakers etc.

Glad you like the backdrop and the chambray shirt! It is indeed very versatile and so soft and light. Scarves are one of my favorite things about fall and winter. I need to add to my collection stat…

[…] The great thing about the classic Chambray Shirt is that it’s amazingly versatile. Working equally well for officewear as it does dressed down for the more casual look, you can also go sleeves-up, sleeves-down, tucked in or untucked as well as worn open with base layers. And don’t just take my word for it – I highly recommend checking out the earlier review from Beth over at TallFashionAdventures.com who gave it a thorough write-up. […]
