Tall Shopping Trip Part 2 – Review of LTS Button-Up Mixed Print Maxi

Since it’s the end of July, it’s high time I review one of my Tall Speciality Shop Challenge purchases from June.  I already shared my mom’s fabulous finds from our Long Tall Sally shopping spree and now it’s my turn. My main shopping mission was to find a couple of wear-anywhere-in-sweltering-weather dresses for my hot summer vacation in Italy.  Of course, I had stalked the LTS website and had some ideas about what I wanted to try on when I arrived at the store.

This black and white LTS mixed print button-up maxi has quickly become my summer go-to!  There is so much to love about it!

I can show as much or as little leg as I want thanks to the buttons:

Lots of leg!

The lace-up back is not only a nice detail but also allows for the perfect fit in the waist area:

The scoop neckline is just right for showing off my pearls or any other pretty necklace. And, if I may overshare for a moment,  I LOVE that I can wear a normal bra as opposed to a strapless bra with this maxi.

We took these photos as we were leaving our Tuscan villa to go to a nice dinner in the countryside.  To jazz the dress up a bit, I wore my Michael Kors stiletto sandals, pearls and a bracelet from Tiffany, pearl drop earrings and my Kate Spade purse.  I kept the look rather monochromatic which definitely works, but I feel like this look is begging for a pop of color, don’t you think?  At least these flowers and the lavender are colorful.  Of course, I had to take a second to stop and smell the roses!

Fit:  Overall, the dress fits very well thanks in part to some of the special details like the button-up style and lace-up back.  However, the dress is not completely without its faults.  I noticed that you could see peeks of skin in rather inconvenient places when I sat down thanks to some gaping at the buttons.  To remedy this, I also bought a longline black slip dress from Long Tall Sally to wear under the maxi.  Wearing the slip underneath is a fairly easy fix, and I’m happy that I don’t have to worry about flashing anyone.  Bottom line: I feel comfortable and fabulous in the dress which is a combo that is often hard to come by.

Fabric: The fabric is 100% viscose which makes it very lightweight and surprisingly breathable.

Wearability: Oh my! Where do I start?!  I feel like I’ve been wearing this dress on repeat lately – out to nice dinners, to casual hang-outs with friends, while running errands on the weekends.  It can very easily be dressed up as seen in these photos or dressed down with a pair of flat sandals and more casual jewelry.  The LTS website even suggests unbuttoning all but a couple of the buttons and wearing it as a sort of “maxi vest” over shorts and a tank for a “festival look”.  I think that’s rather brilliant and might put my own spin on it by wearing tights, booties and a jacket come fall.

[…] The blog is a bit of a “beautiful mess” at the moment since I’m still working on some nitty gritty formatting issues with the blog posts that I brought over from LongLeggy.com.  The thing is, I’m dying to start writing again and I miss chatting with all of you which is why I decided it was time for the blog to go live even if bits of it are still a bit wonky.  Speaking of the blog going live, check out my first write-up where I dish about my fabulous Long Tall Sally button-up maxi dress! Great pictures, lovely surroundings! 🙂 The dress looks great on you, though I agree with you on adding some color. Shame it has some see through issues, but sounds like you have solved that with the slip dress; smart thinking! 🙂 I like the lace up detail on the back too!

As you know, I like my CK maxidress, but not as much as I like a white maxi skirt that I have, which is one of my all time favs! I have never posted about this one, I might Instagram it when I find a decent pic! 🙂

Thanks Karen! The photos were taken at our Tuscan villa which was quite picturesque. More photos to come this week in my Tall Travel Style installment. 🙂

A white maxi sounds like it would be very versatile! I can’t wait to see photos.
