I’ve been LONGING for two things lately:
1) a fabulous tall leather bomber jacket
2) the sun/warmer weather
My first wish was fulfilled a couple of weeks ago when Talltique’s beautiful faux leather bomber jacket arrived in my mailbox. The second wish was fulfilled this weekend when Mr. Sun and his cousin Bright Blue Skies both made a rare appearance during our little trip to Strasbourg, France. Even though temps were in the 40s, I excitedly threw on my new Talltique bomber jacket and was in HEAVEN to not be wearing my winter coat for the day.
This is the first item I’ve bought for my Tall Specialty Shop Challenge and, judging by how much I already love this jacket, I’d say the challenge is off to a fantastic start!

OK…enough scenes from beautiful Strasbourg for now. Let’s get down to the nitty gritty…
Fit: Speaking of size, I am wearing a size 1 which is equivalent to size US4/6. To give you an idea of my measurements, I am 6’2 (1.88 meters), weigh 175 lbs, am a size 6/small on top (but sometimes wear a medium) and a size 10/12 (or large) on the bottom. I was concerned that the jacket might be too tight since I have somewhat broad shoulders and I HATE it when a jacket is uncomfortably tight in the arms thus restricting my movement and cutting off my circulation. I am happy to report that the sleeves are perfectly roomy and I can even fit a light layer or two under the jacket. And while I’m on the topic of the sleeves, DID YOU SEE HOW LONG THEY ARE IN THE PHOTOS?!?!?! Trying on the jacket for the first time and marveling over the longggggg sleeves was one of the best experiences of my tall life to date.
Special Details: This jacket is chock full of special details. This item is from Talltique’s private label and judging by the animal print lining on the inside, the various pockets, the zippers on the sleeves and the snazzy gold hardware, I’d say Talltique put an awful lot of thought into designing the jacket. The jacket is made from a vegan faux leather that is very soft and supple.
Wearability: The jacket is not super hefty so it will be just the ticket for spring, mild summer nights and fall. I wore it this weekend in 45 degree weather with a long sleeve layering tee and a sheer long sleeve top underneath and didn’t freeze my tuckus off, so I figure I can wear it when the temps are in the 40s-60s. A clothing item that I can wear 3 out of 4 seasons is always a winner in my book! The jacket obviously looks great with jeans, but I’ve also played dress up with a few of my skirts and dresses and it looks fabulous with those as well.
Experience with the store: As I reviewed the 5 different sizes for this jacket on Talltique’s website, I was worried that I might be between a size 1 (US4/6) and 2 (US8/10). Eager for some guidance, I emailed Talltique with my measurements. The owner, Helen, replied within hours and was uber helpful in guiding me toward the correct size. Talltique shipped the jacket immediately after I ordered it and it arrived quickly. Helen just returned from an NYC buying trip and will be adding several spring/summer styles. She gave some hints on Instragram as to a few things we can expect – florals, geometrics/tribals, lace and crochet – SWOON!!! I’ll definitely be buying from Talltique again.
To hightlight how versatile the jacket is, here are a couple of others ways I’ve been wearing it.

And to end on a fun note, be careful not to hit your noggin when climbing up narrow, winding staircases (like the 330 step one that we trekked up to get to the top of Strasbourg’s Notre-Dame Cathedral) because you will likely encounter some low clearances!
