New Tops for Project Remix – Loft and Banana Republic

Do you ever get led astray from the narrow path of tall shopping into the seemingly wonderful and varied world of non-tall shopping only to trudge to the mall with your tail between your legs to return your non-tall purchases?  That’s what happened to me the other day when I was trying to find orange/teal/navy printed tops for my Project Remix shopping list and got sucked into a good online sale by Loft.  Normally, if I’m going to buy non-tall stuff, I go do it in person to make sure it fits so I’m not quite sure WHY IN TARNATION I thought it was a good idea to buy a bunch of non-tall tops online. I guess I only bought 4 tops from Loft (one of which I kept as you’ll see below). I also returned the navy, lace one from Long Tall Sally so I guess non-tall tops aren’t always the culprits.

I did, however, keep this orange short-sleeved cardigan from Loft which will be perfect to wear during spring and summer.  Here’s 1 casual outfit and 1 work outfit that I’ve put together with it, and it also goes with a lot of other things in my closet. Yay Project Remix!!

After my non-tall shopping debacle, I got back in the tall shopping saddle by buying this teal/gray chevron print silk top from Banana Republic. I ordered a small and it’s a bit tight around my hips so I’ve taken it to the tailor to have slits cut into the sides because I love the print/fit/fabric/buttons and I got it on sale so I want to keep it. Also, this top passes the remix test because I can wear it several ways – belt it, tuck it, layer it, wear it alone (kidding!) but you get the idea. I really love this sleeveless-long-silky-top style. I have another top similar to this from BR in a cream color that I get TONS of wear out of and tons of compliments.

Here is a close-up of the top.  Forgive the wrinkles! I haven’t dry cleaned it yet.

I’m having a lot of fun with the colors I’ve chosen. Next up in Project Remix will be the tall J.Crew Schoolboy Blazer in navy.

I do sometimes get sucked into buying non-Tall clothes and agree that they rarely look. I do love that cardigan though and the blue top is beautiful on you. I like the trick of adding slits to the side; I wouldn't have thought of that on my own, but will definitely keep in it mind!

Thanks Gracey! Yeah….with my proportions (size small on top and large on bottom), the slit trick is often necessary with longer tops. I did it to this top too – http://www.longleggy.com/2012/04/tall-springy-top-banana-republic.html

I absolutely LOVE that last outfit you have posted, the blue blouse, brown belt and joe's jeans. You look amazing in it.
I just found your blog today via Pinterest. I'm 6'2 and a size 14. Not only do I have the crazy hard time with lengths, but I am also big busted, so all around I feel like it's almost near impossible to find clothes that fit. I actually hardly ever go shopping because of this reason. I tend to keep clothes for a very VERY long time, suffering through the fact that they are out of style and etc, just because I gave up along the way.
But enter your blog and I have a little hope.
Thanks for your blog! Look forward to reading more!
